Winery focusing on exquisite wines from Imereti in Western Georgia. Region’s unique wines have always been famous for their crispness and flavour, but their scarcity makes them real hidden gems; they have always been made in limited quantities, for the needs and enjoyment of the household.Wine-makers in Imereti have for centuries been making wine from ancient, indigenous varieties of grape in underground clay amphorae called ch’uri (the local equivalent of Georgia’s increasingly world-famous kvevri), and this method gave their wines their unique combination of lightness, freshness and depth of flavour. We decided to revive this wonderful wine-making tradition using ancient varietals and to produce exquisite Imeretian wines for the benefit of wine lovers around the world. A wonderful full-bodied dry red wine made from Otskhanuri Sapere grapes. This variety is one of the oldest in Georgia, with a history of cultivation over millennia, and is notably associated with the Colchian culture that developed in Western Georgia during the second millennium B.C. Our Otskhanuri Sapere has an intense ruby-red colour and firmly structured aromas of cherry and blackcurrant, and goes best with veal, lamb or mushrooms. This wine ages particularly well, generally peaking after 10-15 years but can be kept even longer.
